Be part of a Georgetown tradition!

The 24th Annual Jameson 5K at Southwestern Run/Walk and Campus Mosey will be both a live event and virtual this year. It will be held in person on Saturday, October 26th and virtually over a three-day period of Friday, October 25th through Sunday, October 27th. This will allow for participants in Georgetown for Homecoming to enjoy the in-person event and those that would prefer to participate virtually to run and walk on any route and in any town to still be a part of this great event.

The Jameson 5K at Southwestern benefits the Jaysn Jameson Memorial Scholarship Fund at Southwestern University. Jaysn graduated from Southwestern in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. He died in a scuba diving accident in 1991, and soon after, family and friends established the Scholarship in his memory. Jaysn loved making people laugh and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid runner, which is why the Fun Run is an excellent way to preserve his memory and raise money for his named scholarship. The Jaysn Jameson Memorial Scholarship was awarded to a student for the first time in 2000. The criteria to receive this scholarship are that the student must be a science major and demonstrate need for the financial assistance. Over the past 24 years, the Jameson 5K has been able to donate more than $242,062 to the scholarship fund, thanks in part to benevolent sponsors supporting the event. We are not finished with our goals and want to be able support even more students each year with our Scholarship.

For this event to be successful and for all the entry fees to be donated directly to the Scholarship, we need your help as a sponsor to help underwrite the cost of the race production.  Southwestern University provides a quality education to students. By becoming a sponsor, you’re not only helping to provide scholarships for deserving students, but you’re also allowing Jaysns memory to live on in perpetuity.
